How Crocheting is Beneficial During Ramadan

Generally, Ramadan is a month of devotion, patience and obedience. For those who practicing Islam, fasting and following every disciplines related to fasting is compulsory in this month.

To fulfil your precious time during Ramadan, there are lots of activities can be done. You can increase the number of your prayers, and reading or learning to gain more knowledge.  You’re also can pick up a hook and start crocheting, and its benefits you as well! Here’s why:

1.  Unorthodox Way of Remembrance

Typically, we used rosary as an instrument to count the zikr recited. Let’s be creative, we change every beads attached on the string of the rosary with every knot or stitch that we have done. Every stitch done while you recite a zikr, means when you did 100 stitches, you recited 100 zikr! Wasn’t that beneficial?

2.  Active Meditation in Action

By crocheting your project, that repetitive stitching action will increase your attention span. It’s later helps lowering your heart rate and reduce anxiety as you shift into calming state. By the time you are in this mode, you will stay present and mindful, and turning “waiting time” into “healing time”.

3. Energy Optimation

Usually, people who fast will experience energy drains during evening onwards. But worry not, crocheting is an activity that not consume much energy. You will still keeping your hand busy and your mind focused on the project without exhaustion, while waiting for breaking your fast.

4.  Minding others (by Giving Sadaqah)

Ramadan also known as the month of charity. Crochet few simple projects, may it a cute small amigurumi, a simple pouch or a beanie. Then, give it to your love one or those in need. It might look small, but gifting something you have poured your time and effort into is a beautiful expression of love and generosity.

By crocheting in holy month, you will not just being able to finish your project. You will also able to increase your good deeds, and getting closer to your Creator.

Happy stitching and Ramadan Mubarak!
