Easy To Learn Crochet Stitch for Beginner – Mesh Stitch

Are you still searching for stitches that looks unique and beautiful to be applied to your next crochet project? Well, try this stitch instead; Mesh Stitch, or sometimes called Netting Stitch.

This Mesh Stitch is easy to learned and it’s simplicity is suitable for fast paced crocheting. Market bags, shawls, garments and tablecloth are some of the projects that suitable with this stitch.

Two Steps, Repeat and Then, It’s Done

Talking about simplicity, Mesh Stitch only need two basic stitches, Chain (Ch) and Double Crochet(Dc). Then, most of the process will be repetitive (well, everything in crocheting is a repetitive process anyway :D).

The Foundation:

1. Foundation Chain: Chain an even number of stitches. This will determine the width of your project. That number will include one chain that we will used as turning chain to row 1.
2. Row 1 (Setup Row): Double Crochet (Dc) into the 2nd chain from the hook. Then, do Chain 1 (Ch 1), skip the next chain, Double Crochet (Dc) into the next skipped chain. (The reason for skipping one chain is to leave a blank space as you make a chain between two Double Crochet (Dc). Repeat the process across the row.

The Repetition:

1. Row 2 (Net Appears): As you finish row 1 with Double Crochet (Dc), don’t forget your turning chain by making two Chain (Ch 2).
2. Do the Double Crochet (Dc) right on top of Double Crochet (Dc) on your previous row. Then, Chain 1(Ch 1) and skip one chain, exactly where you leave the blank space on previous row. Do another Double Crochet (Dc), and then Chain 1(Ch 1). Repeat the process until the end of row 2.
3. Repeat step 1 and 2 for the next rows until you reach the desired length.

Finishing:

1. Cut the yarn, leaving a tail about 6 inches long.
2. Pull the tail completely through the loop on your hook (Fasten Off).
3. Use a tapestry needle to weave the yarn tails securely into the finished fabric.

There you go! another stitch mastered. Plan your project with this Mesh Stitch ansd happy crocheting!
